Visiting Edinburgh is not complete unless you sample some of Scotland’s national drink. As the capital of the nation, Edinburgh has plenty of places you can enjoy a quick dram. The Bow Bar
The Bow Bar has a gantry which has been rescued from an old church and it has been completely stuffed full of malt whiskies. The Black Cat
The Black Cat is regularly listed in drinks industry publications as a leading whisky bar. It has a cosy and sophisticated feel and a wonderful outdoor seating area, with an atmospheric feel. All of the whiskies in the bar are hand-selected and there are 100 in number. They are further complemented by ales from around Scotland and further afield. The bar has a truly Scottish feel and you can enjoy traditional folk music performed live regularly.
Amber Restaurant and Whisky Bar
Found on the lower ground of the Scotch Whiskey Experience, Amber Restaurant and Whisky Bar cannot be missed. It an extremely atmospheric and stylish environment to play in and the bar is illuminated so you can take a close look at the over 380 different whiskies to choose from. The staff are knowledgeable and will provide you with a huge amount of information and guidance on which to try and which may suite your palate. The staff will also help you match your whiskies with the food on offer.
The Albanach is a modern and stylish venue which is a little unexpected considering it is based in a medieval building on the Royal Mile. You can enjoy a choice of over 250 malt whiskies including single cask bottlings and some very rare malts. This can be paired with a choice of Scottish food and many cask ales and other beverages. The prime location on the Royal Mile means you can watch the world go by as you enjoy a dram or two.
There are over 300 whiskies to enjoy at Whiski and it is regularly described as a bar which is designed for true whisky fans. It is once again situated on the Royal Mile and it has a unique ambience which is enhanced by mood lighting and a comfortable, cosy environment. The food concentrates on Scottish classics and you can enjoy the huge range of whiskies as well as local beers and cocktails.
