ABOUT THE EVENT
Since 1815, members of the British Armed Forces have been awarded medals for participating in conflicts, campaigns and battles across the world – but how many of us know of their value, both as historic records of one person’s military career and indeed in a purely financial sense? You are warmly invited to join Club member Robert Wilde-Evans, Auctioneer and Medal Specialist at Spink & Son, who will give us an insight into medals and British military history, further highlighting a few important medals and some great regimental characters from the Royal Scots (The Royal Regiment) in particular.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Robert Wilde-Evans has worked in the Military Medal Department at Spink for the past seven years. Having read War Studies at university and with previous employment at several central-London military museums (including the Guards Museum and National Army Museum), until recently Robert was an Army Reservist (in both the Honourable Artillery Company and the Inns of Court & City Yeomanry) but has continued in uniform as a Cadet Force Adult Volunteer with Eton College Combined Cadet Force.
A Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Arts Scholars and Assistant Curator of the Inns of Court & City Yeomanry Regimental Museum, Robert’s great passion within military history is the study of Orders, Decorations and Medals of the British Army & Royal Navy of the Napoleonic Wars.
