Visiting Edinburgh for any purpose is a chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery. It’s even better if you’re in town for your wedding and want to give it a real Edinburgh twist. As well as finding the best wedding reception venues Edinburgh has to offer, organising your guest list and getting prepared for your big day, you could consider stopping by some of these spots to liven up your wedding album.
The Forth Bridge
An Edinburgh classic – the Forth Bridge is an unusual, industrial choice for a wedding shot, but it will certainly stand out in your album. The iconic nature of the bridge makes it a wonderful way of putting an Edinburgh stamp on your big day.
The kind of beautiful area which looks like it belongs on a postcard, Circus Lane in Stockbridge is a wonderfully atmospheric place for an Edinburgh wedding photo opportunity. Cute street-facing cottages with beautifully kept flower boxes line the lane and the church at the end of the road overlooks the rooftops and adds another picturesque element. Like a village within the city, it’s a wonderfully romantic spot if you catch the right snap.
For a unique shot of the newlyweds in front of a 19th century lighthouse, Newhaven Harbour will not disappoint. If you aim to get there just as the sun sets, you’ll be in for one of the most beautiful scene Scotland has to offer. The former fishing village is a wonderful traditional location if you want to get some truly memorable and frame-able wedding photos.
It’s quite far out of the centre but the scenery is second to none, the Pentland Hills Regional Park offers true serenity. Winter shots of the Pentland Hills are the most atmospheric but it’s a wonderful location at any time of year, whether you include a hike in your visit or not.
If seaside scenes are more your kind of thing, then Portobello Beach is Edinburgh’s unspoilt option. The sands truly are golden, and you can get some traditional seaside shots with ease. Portobello Promenade is just perfect for stopping and snapping.
