Amy’s View

Amy’s View

Aug 19-24 – 19:30 PM

Esme Allen (played by Judi Dench in the 1979 production) is a well known British actress struggling to adapt in a changing theatrical world. A visit from her young daughter, Amy, with a new boyfriend sets in motion a series of events which only find their shape sixteen years later. Amy’s View is a play about the long-term struggle between a strong mother and her loving daughter, and their relationship with the men in their lives. It mixes love, death and the theatre in a way which is both heady and original. A full evening’s entertainment. www.edinburghmakars.com

Joe Orton was known for his scandalous black comedies and in this, one of his earliest plays, the themes of sex, violence and death are shown playing themselves out in the everyday lives of Mike and Joyce and in Wilson, whose love for and loss of the man he calls his brother provides the catalyst for the disruption that unfolds.

ABOUT THE ARKLE THEATRE

Arkle Theatre Company is a community theatre company based in Edinburgh. We are not a club, and have no members! We hold (fairly) open auditions for each show and cast the very best in each show. Our actors past and present include many who have been professionally trained or have accumulated vast experience of acting. We are also proud that we have cast members who have gone on to train as professional actors after being cast in one of our shows.

Typically we produce 3 shows each year, with one towards the end of April each year and two in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

If you are interested in getting involved in our shows, whether as an actor, backstage, front of house or anything else please contact us via the contact page. We will also be delighted to take ticket reservations or availability enquiries!
