ABOUT THE LECTURE & EXHIBITION

RSC Members and their guests are invited to join author and ex-senior police officer Tom Wood this May for a World War 2 ‘ration’ luncheon and exhibition in The Royal Scots Club’s Hepburn Suite. Guest will be greeted by our very own WW2 Edinburgh Policeman, Constable Robert Carrie KPM, who will be directing you to the event suite from No. 29 Abercromby place.

Please arrive from 12:00 to be seated for lunch at 12:30.

You will be served a traditional wartime two-course ration lunch to put you in the mindset of Edinburgh residents at the time.

Guests are encouraged to wear appropriate WW2 attire, for example, 1940’s clothing (ladies hats etc), family medals and any other fitting attire from the time.

Although Edinburgh was not ‘Blitzed ‘ like London or Clydebank, from the first raid of October 1939 to 1942 the city was regularly attacked by German Bombers.

Digging deep into the the old City Police Archives, and with access to the original crime scene photographs, Tom Wood tells the story of The World War 2 bombing of Edinburgh.

From farce to utter tragedy this is a new insight into Edinburgh’s battle against Hitler’s Luftwaffe.

Tom’s newest book ‘The Bombing of Edinburgh & Leith 1939-42’ will be available for sale at a discounted price on the day.
